  • My 97 has a button to switch it to 4X4. Still my favorite vehicle. And funny enough my daily driver.

  • My grandparents had a 1997 Chevy Suburban, blue and tan 2 tone throughout my childhood. Although my parent’s 2001 Durango was always my favorite, I have so many awesome memories in that suburban which cemented my love for the GMT400 series. The good news is the Suburban is still going strong for another owner

  • Sold my 96 GMC Suburban back in January. Bought a 98 Chevy Suburban 4x4 with 129k on it today for $3500. Just need to replace ps pump and put a radio in it. Here's to hoping my gamble pays off 🤞

  • Almost bought a conversion Suburban a few years ago, but it broke down on the test drive. My brother put over 300k on his, did his own work to keep it running that long.

  • I still love the expedition and excursion ford had.

  • Family truckster is better looking

  • Jacking up the price for gmt 400’s

  • I have a 1992 Suburban Silverado. LOVE IT! Rated to pull 15,000 pounds, and I've pulled a 4-horse trailer with it. Yes, I have trailer brakes. Low points: 1) I put on Monroe gas shocks, and they are severely under-damped. 2) It's got the old recirculation ball steering and steers like a 1992 vehicle; 2" of play in the steering wheel.

  • is this GMC for sale ? or just a HRdown video ... !

  • I think hoovie is going full mob boss. Needs something to efficiently move all the bodies

  • Damn imagine converting that to an extra long range electric?

  • i just picked up a 96 4wd 2500 with a 454. my favorite vehicle that I have ever had.

  • You did a great job plugging Omaze. That's a fun way to give, lots of interesting things to give to, and cool giveaways.

  • Akroyd, stop peddling these Cuban change maker specials. You know we could really open a working mint one of these days..

  • Wondering if you would be interested in checking out a 1996 ford honorbuilt Eldorado class b campervan built in our home state of Kansas, and we traveled in it through most of the lower 48 over the last couple years before the pandemic.

  • How come every time Hoovie makes a video i run out and buy said vehicle?

  • Love your videos!

  • My dad had some 80s diesel suburban, thing drove like a tank Wish we still had it now...was more reliable than any diesel on the market today

  • That car was really nice until you showed us the interior....

  • Love this old beast of a vehicle. The GMC Safari work vans of this era were also built professional grade.

  • Recently pickup a 97 Suburban. Now in the process of making it the off road, camping, mountain rig. Four inch lift, bumpers, lights, winch and Raptor coating.

  • I got my first GMT400 Suburban about 15 years ago. I'm onto my third now. As much as I love these trucks the 4L60 in the 1500s is just too failure-prone. I had to rebuild the transmission in my original '96 4 times. So when the transmission in my '98 went out a couple months ago I just decided to get something a bit more durable, a '95 with a 4L80E. But if anyone wants a cheap 1998 1500 with a mild body lift and conversion van package that needs a transmission rebuild there's on in my driveway for the time being.

  • If I got another one, I would install a Bluetooth stereo (radio doesn’t play what I like really, I’m a bit picky at times and like many things I can’t usually get around where I life and will happily be the rest of my life. But besides that stereo, I would keep it all original

  • So if I don't donate some change these kids will die? You make a shit ton more money than most of us. So you could save a lot of these kids.

  • These pos ain't sky rocketing.

  • I had a 1998 GMC Yukon for a while but it hadn’t been taken care of before my ownership and was a lost cause. Trans, rear end, front end, everything was bad. But I told myself eventually I’d get another in better condition but...I’m not paying $8,000 for one! I’m a 23 year old kid with other priorities and I’m tired of wasting money on cars like a mundane Corolla, it’s depressing as a car enthusiast and that being nearly my only passion. But now I can’t even get a half decent reliable and comfy V8 cruiser of a truck in Texas for a half decent acceptable price. This is stupid. It’s not some classic muscle car and it hearts the heart to see it shooting in price out of the blue at an alarming rate

  • I just bought one 6 months ago for $1500. It needed a few small repairs, but just turned 280,000 miles. All the parts to build one can be found easy and affordably at Autozone, O'Riley, and Ebay. $12 door handles, $25 lift torsion lift. Common 6x5.5 wheels. Tons of room inside to fit people, camping gear, hell, I don't even bother sleeping in a tent. I tossed in an old mattress in the back! It's a 4 wheel drive motorhome! LOL and gets about the same gas mileage! Mine gets 8 to 10mpg! Over $20 a day in fuel! Gas is $4.50 a gallon in Seattle at this time. And I would say $1500 was a good deal, and was cheap, but I discovered Summit/Jegs/edlebrock/ and pretty much figured out how to drain my 401k! On a 25 year old truck! Haha

  • swap for an LT engine😃 would make an instant classic upgrade

  • I have a pristine ‘97 2-Door Tahoe. People stop me and compliment me on it almost daily.

  • Tony Soprano would be proud.

  • The trans were great back then

  • I just purchased a clean 95' GMC Starcruise.

  • We have a suburban it’s a Chevy it’s exhaust out I know perfect

  • Me and my friend pimped out a Subruban. It has been reliable for us and we took it to Chicago and New York. We went to New York and started shooting GDK. We had to get out of there Hella quick but the suburban hauled ass to get us out of there.

  • Those new interiors got a lot more airbaggy too...

  • Great video, Doug!

  • Me: "Man, that interior color is making my eyes bleed." Hoovie: "Yes, it is red, and yes, it is awesome." Lol!

  • These things were gutless dogs with dogshit transmissions.

  • Still have my '99 Yukon SLE.... fixed it up to the point it looks new just a mid lift and 33s And original 4l60e never had a issue

  • 5 to 7 thousand. I bought my 2500 94 Chevy suburban for... 1000$ took it to oregon and back to California a week later. It has, 165,343 miles on it. Even prior to this video, I wouldn’t sell it 👍

  • The seats in that model were like a nice comfy couch. So wonderful.

  • I have a 99 gmc suburban with a 454 in it and that truck has some guts

  • If you wanted to have something that was going to increase in value, you should have kept your 7.3 L diesel 4x4 Excursion. Ya dingbat.

  • Don't get rear ended, without a headrest you would get horrible whiplash hahahahahah!

  • Gas hogor’s that’s for sure

  • Love my 1995 so under appreciated.

  • Your Excursion was better lol

  • Will never own a GM product ever again.

  • Hey, quit telling everyone. Makes it worse.

  • The sweet spot for me are the pre AFM post SBC GMT 800 Yukon/Tahoe/Suburban. I have one I got in Boise for $1700, 170K. Had the seat covered and gave it a deep clean. Heated seats, rear dvd, LS technology, cheap parts, 18mpg on road trips if you keep it under 75. Buying another one with an Eaton/Magna Charger for $4800 as a daily but future LS swap donor.

  • I Inherited the family 99 K1500 Suburban from my dad a few years ago and its also recently my favorite daily driver.. 4WD, Barn doors, built like a tank. Did some minor maintenance, MAF, Shocks, AT tires, oil cooler lines, and it runs like it's brand new at 160k miles. Best part is the 42 gallon tank that gets me close to a 600 mile range. Makes a great mountain adventure vehicle for trips to the snow and wilderness camping, can sleep right in the back with the seats down.Only downside is the MPGs. I may have to garage it after seeing this video though.

  • What about Tahoes from this era?

  • I sold my sub and bought Bitcoin, back in 2015, now I drive a Lambo.

  • *Awesome*

  • Does the stereo come with the factory alternator whine? 😂 I’m with you, love the ‘88-‘94 GMT400 interiors. I don’t mind the “moon gauges” however. Just nostalgia. The 8-lug ‘burbs (2500) should have the TH400 or a 4L80 in them instead of the dreaded 700R4 and 4L60. Plus, can you say “big block”? 👍🏻

  • Im from the Wichita area in KS. Its kinda cool seeing the locations and knowing where you were at. Glad to see another local taking care of an OBS Suburban. My current daily is a 1999 C1500 Suburban.

  • Nobody wants this generation

  • You almost cut that F150 off

  • They were not using the Professional Grade slogan in 94.

  • The prices on all of these GMT400 GM trucks and SUVs are getting insane. Several people in one Facebook group were selling theirs for $12-16k. And they were just basic 5.7L standard cab pickups. Not the 454SS. One guy claimed to have spent $28k on one with like 15k miles on it. Where I live, the prices haven't gotten so bad, but it won't be long before people get wind of how much money they're going for down south and the prices skyrocket here for rusty old heaps. The "weird" gauges you're referring to are called "Moonies" in GMT400 fan circles. They were done away with in very late 1991. I had a 1990 with them, a friend had a 1991 with them, and now my son has an 89 with them. Ah, the power of a TBI 5.7L. They were slow, but they'd run forever, and were stupid simple. One frigid winter day several years ago, my wife's newer car refused to start, but that old 1990 C1500 I had fired right up. My wife was mad that her car didn't start, but my old truck did. I told her "Your car is smart. It took one look at how cold it is and said 'NOPE'. My old truck is like an old hound dog. Loyal, but dumb as a stump. I hit the key and it said 'Oh, you wanna go somewhere? Alright, let's go!'".

  • Thats because you can live in it.

  • I’ve rolled 3 very safe

  • I think you’re 100% wrong The suburban is a great vehicle I had plenty of them myself I just recently bought a 2020 version But those so many of those vehicles available it is not rare whatsoever I can drive down the street and I am guaranteed to at least see 2 to 3 of them as for the grand Wagoneer I always knew those was going to skyrocket in value they had such a limited run it was bound to happen and it’s also a great SUV

  • We need mahk 😂

  • Hmm time to get my 94 sierra appraised

  • I had a two door Yukon and one of my favorite things in the engine bay was the work light with the extension cord that you could use when changing tires or camping

  • One quick correction, the Squarebodys were available with shift on the fly and auto locking hubs. It just was optional. The 2wds came with the torsion bar IFS. No idea if they rode different than the solid front axle 4x4 trucks. I had a near perfect one with over 270k miles as my first truck, and it was an awesome daily driver, never had a major issue. Sadly I was rear ended by a distracted driver and it was totaled. I got a GMT-800 Yukon XL denali as it's replacement. I wanted something a little more powerful, and the 6.0 plus AWD is has phenomenal road manners. It definitely lacks the charm, but it's nice not worrying about messing up a nice truck anymore. Hopefully someday I'll get a donor truck to put my square suburban back together. It really does seem that the early GMT400s were the best of both worlds.

  • I drove my 90 GMC PU for 19 years. Quality build. 400.000 miles. One trans, one engine. Still have the motor for another one day

  • They’re incredible vehicles. I miss them for sure!

  • Did he get rid of the Ford excursion?

  • Hope it doesn’t have the 700r4 or 4L60E transmission PS never mind

  • Beautiful

  • Just bought a 95 suburban with 150,000 for 2500 runs great I'm pretty sure I will get over 300,000 out of it love the 5.7

  • Why does the baby go to school? Hoovie is a millionaire and his wife still works 🤔

  • Im at a crossroad...I love youtubers putting out cool content about car stuff that I enjoy. But I hate how much influence they have on the car market. Driving up the values of cars . It sucks. Lots of cars I will never own now. But thanks for the great content.

  • Every car is skyrocketing because people people have stimulus money. Wait a few months then cars will drop.

  • My 1996 4l60 has 240k on it, never rebuilt, and also has a 5.3 ls hooked up to it I put in from a 04 silverado. it still shifts perfect

  • I'm doing a complete restoration on my 96 gmt400 K 1500. I absolutely love driving it. Had a Suburban similar to yours in 1996 they. Close to 40 grand for. Love to be able to buy a high-quality K 1500 truck for 4000 cash today

  • Yeah. They’re going up alright, right after he’s done manipulating the market with his online persona...

  • There is an old one at the local dealer for 21k what's up with these trucks being so much now

  • Those bench seats can easily fit 4 people have one in my 92 c1500

  • Your baby goes to school?

  • I preferred the mid 70s too mid 80s Suburbans! They were tough as nails and solid as a rock!!!

  • i had a 94 gmt400 suburban and for some reason got rid of it, truly wish i never did that. i still have my 94 gmt400 k3500 4 door long bed dually centurion edition witha 6.5 turbo and a 5 speed and i love that truck. has needed a lot of love being a Detroit diesel but i still wont get rid of it i love it too much

  • Lol! He feels “so manly” in the canyonero spec!

  • Overpriced American made junk and gas guzzling Ford's and Chevs and Dodges They are still manipulating the markets and scheming for extortion type Price's Americans greed continues.

  • I bought a 93 k2500 454 suburban last summer and already had 3 people try to buy it off me

  • In my state they're already over 70,000 bucks. Talk about skyrocketing!

  • Let's be honest. This car is ugly AF...

  • I just bought a nice 1994 Suburban Silverado, 2wd, loaded, Indigo blue/silver with a beautiful blue interior. Nicest looking Suburban made. Just received a 5/7 Belltec drop kit, will be on 20 inch torq thrust II wheels.

  • I have a single cab short bed obs chevy and im never getting rid of it

  • 🔥🔥🔥🔥

  • Lol I just noticed he has 123M subs looks fake

  • The GMT400 trucks were the state bird of Alabama.

  • With gas prices going way up.

  • When you thought these were for grownups, now I’m almost 50! Editing this, for the environment. Do people realize how much batteries for those eco friendly cars actually do to the environment? Ridonkulious!

  • If Hoovie bought a stock and then started guaranteeing the price will go up, he'd be arrested. Or at least fined. :)

  • Got a 94 K1500 burb on 35’s and a 6in lift. 430k km on the stock engine and driveline!! Absolute beast!!!

  • Brand engineering has mostly gone away.. have you looked at Volkswagen? :) And no head rest and no air bag means it's so dangerous. The first thing I noticed when I got rear ended hard in my X5 was how good of a job the head rest did of catching my head.

  • I Love that thing too. Don't sell it!!! Suburban is my all time favorite vehicle. These days I buy Ford but I am a GM guy at heart
