Question: How does one "accidentally" buy a car?? Gotta love a super charger, these little cars when they are healthy are a riot of fun to drive. Not very refined, not particularly practical but good handling, a bucket of angry super charger and growly four-cylinder noise and those cute looks are difficult to replicate. Hopefully Hoovie hasn't accidentally bought her too late.
Something tells me this car even fully sorted isn’t worth anywhere near the $8k he has into it
I absolutely love the first gen Mini Cooper S but I wouldn't have put the money into that one, it looks abused and neglected and who knows what's going to break next. And it doesn't even have the cool panoramic sunroofs
There is only one "Italian Job" and none of those are in it. If it's not Michael Caine, it's not The Italian Job.
Who agrees with me? Dumbest or stupidest?
always good to see a mini come back to life...........but I challenge you as a classics car fan to jump into a real classic mini............love your content👍
If you still have those mini kc lights on the grill I'll purchase them off you
Is Ninja from Albania? For some reason i thought he was from Spain.
Hit me up if you decide to sell that Mini! I sent you an email as well. Since it’s been rescued I would love to keep it alive and appreciate it’s fun driving as I miss my Fiat that got totaled a few years ago. Love the videos btw! I’ve been watching since the grandpa Lincoln you made for Dougs Autotrader column haha
6000.00 plus 2000.00 for this car is worth it. Can't wait for the final product.
What a complete pile of garbage, even when it was new.
This has got to be the worst car show on HRdown. Poor vision, poor audio and for gods sake, take a breath, articulate your speech and slow down, instead of talking non-stop! 👎🏼
This is my dream car Tyler. I really want to have it for my daily adventure. Planning to make driving adventure vlog here in the philippines.
8k for an MC40. It's a no brainer. The vid on its renovation will cover it!
Don't do up graded super charger not worth it that saves $2350 plus modded special edititions loss money keep it standard. in the factory the engine come out the bottom last two we've put engine in dude to oil housing leak and bottoms ends gone we like factory drop them out the bottom. People in the usa clearly dont bother with reqular yearly servicing. That mini easy savable and worth it too. Few seals, recon steering rack and pipes etc....job done gear box out from under the car to replace the clutch only $130 bucks, in europe we bearly keep our car 100k miles so there only buit to do about 120kmax years ago e46 bmw e39 etc...built to do 250k
I'm giving a special like 👍 for the ninja wigle at the end😂
Give it away to the ninja! He will appreciate it!
If you're going to buy a MINI, get the electric. BMW i3S motor and battery have a great track record.
I owned a mini s. So much fun to drive. Total piece of shit. Like utter and total piece of shit. If you get the hankering for one Rent one, drive the piss out of it, light it on fire and walk away having done the world a favor. I like my 81 vette so much better. Much more reliable, much higher quality. Bear in mind when I say that I'm referring to a GM product from the 80s....
Love the old mini's the. the new ones? *looks away*.
Is Ninja Albanian?
I loved mine had 4
800euro and elbow grease and its fixed
Had it up to 384hp
For $2000 or £1400 here in the UK i would bite your arm off to buy that, what would you really expect for 2004 and 104,000 miles, going to be some work to be done, but come on it's a Mini.
At 7:14 the mini struggles to start... Mine has the same problem. I'm wondering if anyone here or the Ninja can explain the cause of that. I am hoping its not the head gasket
Hoovie, please please please present the estimate to camera so we can read it through (be useful for a viewer to compare with their estimates too)
the engines are crap, they are made by Peugeot, they are not made to handle a supercharger. BMW did not make a transverse engine at the time, they now use a version of the 3 cylinder engine from a i8.
Minis are cute but they hemorrhage 💵💰💳👎🏿
The number plate would gave been under the e brake but somebody obviously took it out
That car is only 1 of 1000 made that year, please do something nice with it!
Great Memories you bring with this one y bought in 2005 this edition in texas mine was Number 40 /1000 love that little car have to sell it 3 years later but o boy ill enjoy that little mini i still have the magnet 37 and a replace stickers for the hood and the side originals
All that stuff I can fix for about 800 bucks. They see Mini. They see dollar signs. Ripping him Off on parts alone.
As far as i know the body shell is made in swindon wiltshire England so a large part is British
The children will be grateful, I would have saved this car just for that. :)
Awesome! Missed these videos on rescuing old, but cool shit boxes! Thank you for the video
The 500 Abarth was way cooler and funny enough more reliable.
Never cared for these "cute" cars. Bah humbug and get off my lawn.
Really starting to like Ninja more and more. He seems like a genuine, nice and cool dude!
Mini coopers are total garbage cut your losses and junk it
Vtec swap it or k swap it that way it will be reliable
I don't get it. Minis in the UK are fairly reliable. Couple of friends have minis but none of them ever complained.
did you call your friend bob "urination bob" ? does he suffer from "leaks" ?
I gotta lie - whisttlindiesel
It’s a Peugeot engine! 🤦♂️
I really want to see this when it’s finished!
Typical mini. My first car was a mini r50, 1.6 petrol. Fun to drive but not exactly reliable XD
My first three cars were minis. Real one's from the 60s and 70s and I think they were more reliable witch is saying something. Do the world a favor and have it crushed
I think the Ninja is not far away from getting a yacht as well, just like the Wizard did! cha-ching!
Hmmm, not sure what to make of this vid. 104k miles and a knackered clutch is disingenuous. Previous owners are responsible for that, not the car. As indeed they may be responsible for oil-related maladies if they’ve not maintained it properly. And on that mileage it IS going to need work such as the power steering leak if previous owners haven’t stayed on top of maintenance. Buy the cars and save them, and show us, but don’t make out ALL miley cars are shit. Cars wear out, fact.
The saggy headlining is unforgiveable. In the late 1970s British Leyland had cloth glued to very thin foam rubber which was then glued to card at first, then to plastic in the 90s. The foam degraded over time into powder and the cloth sagged off the backing or biscuit as it was known. From Minis to Jags all BL products did it. But BMW continuing the practice in the 21st century!
You complain about a 6150$ USD repair cost on a R53? lol Brace yourself, my R52S cost 28000$ CAD in repairs over 18months. It was last year.
He said its hard to work on. How would he know...
I love all versions of the mini cooper, but I just can't afford the maintenance and reliability :(
Since St Jude is in my home town, I just made a 5% of your bills total donation to St Jude under “Ninja.”
Big fan of the “Dumbest automotive channel in all of HRdown” dance
Some say you can hear Scotty Kilmer cackling in the distance if you listen very, very carefully.
I was definitely guessing 11,000 lol
You are correct with your theory about upkeep costs, but it gets worse than that. This next sentence tells you everything you need to know about their reliability and service costs. The mini uses many bmw components, except for the french engine; The car is then wired and assembled in Britain. A friend of mine had the clutch replaced on his 2007 model and it cost 4 grand at a shop that doesn’t overcharge.
He makes a $1 every 1,000 views so I'm sure it will work out fine in the end if you make enough videos about it! ;D
Car Ninja are you Albanian?
No BMW didn't buy Mini Cooper as a company, they bough the Rover group which built the classic shape Mini. BMW eventually sold Rover but had the foresight to keep the Mini brand. All a Mini is now is a BMW 1 series. Oh and don't forget the 100,000 mile service
Power steering in a car this size is about as silly as having power steering on a shopping cart.
Now there is a car I have always loved, always wanted one, loved seeing them on the covers or in say, Sport Compact Car mags
What a bargain 👍 great video thanks
Just slap a new car on the brakes and she’ll be fine ! 🚘
Tyler, I love your channel, but for Christ, set volume higher! Very very low volume and when the publicity shows up it almost blow my ears...
Is ninja Albanian???
Ton of those on UK roads, but mostly rotten due road winter salting.
Ninja's face at 8:57, complete disgust. 😂
How to make a Mini Copper S cool. K Swap it.
when the oil light comes on you turn off the engine immediately. not limp it back.
Can't wait! I love Minis
There is a soft spot in my heart for those special edition Mini Coopers. Good news it will almost be a new car.
typical vehicle -- needs a little work from the 50k to 100k mile mark and someone drove it until everything was broken or worn out... and traded it in instead of doing it over the last 3 years...
Get the supercharger ported and polishedd
My own hoptie is in repair. Luckily my insurance covered it 2 times. 3 third might not be the charm
The car ninja is from albania ?? ..LOL
Convert to Electric ?
Great Car Though in 2021
Scrap the thing!
The nosy kitty utrastructurally knot because clipper advantageously cheer a a chemical japan. secretive, outgoing society
... and we all have a low opinion of your driving ability.
These were a disaster from the factory. It's like they decided to exhibit the very worst of European automotive engineering in the new MINI. It's got it all. This isn't a dig on European cars, they can be done well but the MINI is just a turd in all ways and it seems to be by design. Peugeot/BMW engine collaboration, plastic shite everywhere, emphasis on gimmicks over quality... just awful.
Wow. That oil light is a time machine. The car dropped 9 miles getting to ninjas.
Nice car Mini, repair it to sell high🤑
The hood (bonnet) release is actually on the drivers side here where they are made!
Should have put it in a auction
"I went to the auction, not planning to buy a car" -- Hoovie - why did you go to the auction?
is the car ninja albanian?.....
Does the odometer run backwards?
Worth every penny... Cracking little car... Well worth saving ☺️ And gotta be cheaper than a supercar...
Do you have a VW passat and an Audi S5 cabriolet?
Pretty sure Wheeler Dealers did an MC40 a few seasons ago?
Which you just mentioned 🤣
That little old car buying addiction is biting the hand that feeds it when it makes you buy real hoopties that should've been parted out at the scrapyard, but think of the kids, awwww...
Hahaha..Love that Rolex flag the Ninja has in there !
I buy one too... new steering pump, new gearbox, new coils, plugs filters liquids, tyres, arm suspension, landa, rear lamps etc etc..........
Wanna sell it?
Ironically the engine in these are chrysler engines..
Here in the UK these are a motoring joke.....the list of problems is endless...crappy american engines in the early ones. to shite peugeot units later,,....timing chains (due in the main to ludicrous service intervals ) clutches ,brakes inlet manifold clogging.electical issues.........
NO. BMW bought Rover who owned/built the Mini. Back in the 80's? John Cooper sold his trademark to Rover as he needed the money and thought with the upcoming emmisons the a series wouldnt carry on. It was a very shrewed buy by BMW.
Hoovie, you are definitely a real enthusiast. Thanks for that and the Mini video. They are pretty rare. Even on HRdown. Commonly known to be a scary ownership experience. Unreliable and disappointing to the extreme but also loved just as passionately for their charm and fun to drive attributes. Please make a video of Ninja's repair of this bomb. You have to. You are probably one of the few guys crazy and quirky enough to make a good go of it.
