  • Used to always want one of those. But.. dodge.

  • Just down the youtube rabbit hole and came across this video. Can I just say holy cow that bed is immaculate. Nice truck all around.

  • The worlds crappiest truck. Yuck! Good thing it's only got 8,000 on it cuz by the time it hits 13,000 it will need new ball joints, new air vent door motors, and probably a transmission too.

  • That's the same 5.9L Magnum V8 that was featured in the Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ 1998 Limited which was the fastest SUV in the world at that time. I have the 5.2L 318 magnum V8 (which was basically the carbon copy of the 5.9, with some minor tweaks) in my ZJ and it's still a blast to drive. The torque is insane coming from a 28yr old Jeep. I love it, best engine ever made.

  • The 5.9 eat up transmissions and oil pickups.. :)

  • Those were great engine but the rest of the body was falling appart at like 150-200 miles here in canada because they rusted like nothing.Really a big pile of shit on wheels but still cool little truck

  • My uncle had a dakota of that generation at one point. Extended cab and a 5 speed manual. That thing had some growl to it

  • i miss when pick ups where this size

  • Dodge, like all Chrysler products, builds junk.

  • This belongs in a museum!

  • Dang that’s my dream truck I’ve had a couple dodge Dakotas but never a rt

    • @Bobby Schram nah im joking but dang, you are all the way up there. Hopefully u can find one up there thats not rusted out

    • @Bobby Schram why

    • @Ethan Villarreal I live in Canada

    • Theres one here in texas for sale for 5500 130k miles but it looks in good shape

  • Guarantee the the pinchweld under the windshield is rotted even with no miles on it

  • You aren't dumb neither silly, just a car lover. Cheers for you and your Dakota R/T, I expect she'll last till your kid get older and you can enjoy with him driving and share your passion. Thanks!

  • Supposed to be 2 in Florida with less miles. 30,000 each

  • Hoovie is too big for the truck lol

  • I had a 97 v6 it was a great truck until my break line exploded from dryrot

  • You never buy the cheapest cars anymore. Not any relatable cars. You’ve sold out dude

  • A low mile Dakota RT sold for $ 24,000 . At a collector auction ,last fall.

  • I have 2000 Darkota RT cc flame red in nice original condition , 107,000 miles.Never winter driven.I'm the second owner.Owned since 2001.I really like mine.

  • Get some bed liners made up by an upholsterer in heavy duty rubber backed fabric that have magnets to fix it to the bed

  • “Ford ranger v6 4cyl ” 😂😂😂 4:36

  • My brother had one back in the day. 3 transmission failures in a year and it was gone.

  • I’ve owned three, love the truck! I’ll take it if you don’t want it!

  • His most valuable car

  • Alternate title: Hoovie tells us why this car is bad, and why he loves it so much so he will never drive it.

  • I've always wanted a fast truck. Lowered, rwd, burnout machine.

  • The s10 extreme I have was just over 24k new. Mine isn't nearly as clean as that dodge but it's a rust free florida truck . The bed is as nice as your dodge it's the best looking part of the truck. I also have an 04 dodge dakota crew cab mint condition I'll agree the dodges are hard to find it took a long time to find mine everything I looked at was a rust bucket shined up with a premium price. I can't believe that guy purchased that truck never drove it and I'm assuming sold it at a big loss. That truck probably books out at something like 8k now and he paid 21 what a bone head.

  • Someday, everyone will realize that the Dakota was the greatest truck ever made. Love my 2007 quadcab

  • Congratulations always at a Dakota fan had three first and second generation ones very reliable

  • Congrats man good luck

  • Ahem I have one

  • Next up on "Cars and Bids"....

  • IMO, the best looking truck ever made. I had a 98 non-RT and loved it.

  • $13K ?

  • Those were indeed pretty good looking little trucks. Wish regular cab midsize trucks with 6' boxes were still a thing.

  • My grandpa has a Dakota 5.9 slt. That truck will spin the tires if you just look at the gas pedal and is as fast as my 2004 6 speed BMW.

  • I actually have a 2000 rt been trying to find a transmission for it I found one down in kansas but money is tight hopefully soon I will get mine going it's not as nice as yours but it only has 100k miles and power windows and doors locks plus it's an extended cab

  • Bedine, rubber mat, use it for it’s intended purpose.

  • I got nostalgic all of a sudden and found your video. I would have totally bought that, best color too. Congrats.

  • Put timber strips on the prowd parts of the bed.

  • Incredibly jealous of this, the only thing I’d change would be an extended cab truck

  • I have a 98 RT and a 94 Sport with the 5.2. I run 275/50 17 tires on the RT. Even they are hard or impossible to get now. I worked for Dodge as a tech from 1992 - 1998. The 1993 sport with a 5.2 was the fastest of the bone stock Dakotas. In 1994 they reduced the size of the exhaust manifolds and started rating the hp at the flywheel. I still remember doing pre delivery inspections on the new 93 models. At 45 they would light up when you crammed down on them ;-) One customer kept coming back complaining he couldn't keep the azz end on the ground and engine surging. The surging wound up being the rev limiter kicking in at 6500. :-0

  • Our 01 Durango is still a great drive 20 years later! Midwest rust has not been kind to it, but the 4.7 V8 has been incredible!

  • Beautiful truck man my first vehicle was a 2004 dakota slt quad cab 4x4

  • What i would give to own this truck. It was my favorite truck growing up and with the way covid financially ruined my life it just isnt possible sadly. Excellent find hoovie.

  • What an absolute pleb

  • The ranger use to be a mini truck then they had to ruin them and now they look like shit

  • Times are changing but not in the Goodway for somethings

  • I had a 99 Dakota R/T back in 99-2001, right before I started getting into 4 banger turbo cars, lol, thanks Fast and Furious. Loved the truck. Lowered, exhaust and a 150 shot of nitrous. I definitely upset some people in that truck, but those tuned, pullied Lightnings sure were a pain. Ahhhh, the late 90s early 2000s. There use to be a company back in the day that had a 5 speed conversion specifically for the R/T. Always thought that was bad ass. Enjoy it in good health!

  • It literally looks like he went to the factory and got it very nice truck

  • I would love to see a Jeep Patriot 2010 on your channel.

  • Hey Hoovie, google Australias Holden Commadore Maloo Ute, there our mini trucks!!!!

  • My Grandfather had a 1999 Dakota R/T. It was a really sweet ride, Had a custom 6 Speed transmission, Custom Rims and Tires, And a ton of Engine modifications. Sadly, In November 2011, It was wrecked by some drunk driver at midnight. It really fucking pisses me off to remember it, The Dakota R/T is NOT Common, And his was so well treated, It was sad to let it go. Seeing this video made me happy, To see another R/T owner all happy with their awesome truck. Keep that lil' truck safe.

  • I agree friend, vehicles that are made today are nothing comparable to how these were.what a truck you have

  • i worked at Moss Bros. Dodge in California when these were being sold new. i was 18 years old at the time, and i rarely saw these. Such an awesome truck!

  • Wowww I'm so jealous I love and want that truck so bad I have a 2003 dakota 4x4 ext cab

  • You need those bfg tires with the yellow stripe from around that period

  • DOULBLED personalized plates.

  • 5:59 lol

  • my dad had a dakota sport in barney purple which he took me out on a long, straight alberta back road an wrapped the speedo at 235km/h when i was maybe 11 or 12 and no one ever believed me that it was that fast. bet the RT could top 155mph

  • I love dodge, I also own a dodge dakota sxt, from my understanding the sxt's are hard to find now a days. they are really good truck

  • The Dakota has never been a “mini truck”... the Dakota has always been mid sized... that was always its big selling point, it was bigger than the S-10, Ranger and all of the Japanese competition, but smaller than the full sized trucks. Even the first gen Colorado is smaller than the Dakota, and you could get a 5.3 LS derived V8 in those... I’m not knocking the Dakota, my dad had a 1990 he bought new and it had almost 400k miles on it when he “traded” it during cash for clunkers (and no, I’ll never forgive him for that, lol) and this is absolutely a gorgeous R/T Dakota... but it’s not a mini truck.

  • Christ. It’s a Dakota pickup. Pristine or not, throw some tools and tires in the back and use the truck!

  • Tell me he didn't sell all of his Aston Martins, please.

  • Welcome to the club bruh i bought mine for 1500 in chicago it was just sitting in the back with sun damage but the interior is flawless got it at 150000 miles now im at 277777 running strong 3.9 sport

  • Buy a beater one, keep this beauty in good conditions

  • I loved my was a great well built truck !

  • Can I have it 🙏

  • Cars and Bids no reserve!

  • I’ve got 250k on my 02 Durango, I’d say the quality is alright.

  • Reminds me of the night I bought my brand new '99 R/T. Beautiful red with dark charcoal interior. Her name was Vivian and I miss her.

  • Remember when these came out and they claimed it would run door handle to door handle with the z28 lol?

  • Dakota's were not a mini truck, they were a mid-sized truck, that syclone you mentioned, is a mini truck however.

  • I just realized I'm not a sub yet 🤣🤭

  • Iove this truck. Had a friend in HS who had a cherry red version. He had it running low 13's and looking slick. If I could afford to own this truck I would jump on it in a second.

  • Beautiful truck I hope I find one too just not in as good as condition because I don’t wanna pay an arm an a leg for it an I want to drive it

  • I would never drive that, and if I did, it would be only a short trip to keep the fluids moved, seals in decent shape, etc. All I’ll say is take care of the ole girl.

  • Nice Truck.. I have a 99 RT ... body off Resto done.. now we are finishing the engine.. Stroked 5.9 to 408 CI...computer modeling on the build Suggests 625 HP with 550 FT LBS of torque... Everything in the engine has been heavily modified to ...Heads flow over 310 CFM NHRA SS heads .. We also went with an LD 340 Single plane intake and port matched it.. Yes I know the LD. is for an LA Engine.. we had to re drill out the bolt holes and use Epoxy to make them fit right... Everything is trick... 3 years in the making...Hopefully I don't blow it up...gonna set the rev limiter to 6500 RPM .. cheers... I did the same with my bow flex...lol

  • I think the best one is the Extended cab model, In that medium blue color.

  • Hoovie does ur rt have 255/55/17?

  • We have the dodge rt but it's an ext cab.

  • Leave a link to the cars you are selling?

  • You make it sound like such a bad thing that you own this truck. Looks like its in good hands based on the cars in the background. ;-)

  • That is one special truck!

  • Sooo, it’s a Ute?

  • i have a 2001 dakota tr and love it, of course when i got it it had over 194,000 ks on it i have it now over 231,000 still running good had to fix alot of upgrades in maintence due to agges has rust in some spots, but it gets me from a to z drive it as long as i can

  • It's a museum piece, so Hoovie does burn outs in it.

  • Can you find the most pristine geo metro hatchback in the usa

  • My brother in law had a 99 Durango with the 5.9 and only 80k miles. I told him that if he was going to get a new truck not to trade it in because I would buy it from him. Well he traded it in anyway and they gave him peanuts for it. He bought it from the original owner for only $2400 too. The body and interior were almost just as perfect like this Dakota R/T. Now he wishes he never traded it in lol.

  • Want to make it even more of a blast to drive? Swap a Hemi in under the hood.

  • There was another V8 “mini” truck. The GMT355 Colorado/Canyon was sold with a 5.3L LS V8 for 2009-2012. 300hp/320lb ft.

  • Alright Hoovie!!

  • My brother has a dacota witch I wanted when I first started driving. I have a 05 liberty tho and I love it

  • Interesting how the next recommended video after this is Doug DeMuro’s review of the Lincoln Blackwood

  • He finds a PRISTINE vehicle that some guy pampered for 20 years and does burnouts in it 🙄

  • another rare example is the shelby dakota they are hard to find too

  • i’ll buy it for 22k

  • 100!

  • Ridiculously clean truck. I agree on the interior fabrics--my 99 Silverado has seats in the same sort stuff and they look like new after 243,000 miles.

  • It really ties the place together man
